Jill, thanks for the tips. It's been a while since I've had a chance to shoot fireworks, but I'll keep these tips in mind for next time.
I noticed that you use a Canon S3IS. I do too and I've been looking for a site that can answer so many questions that I have about my camera that only a user can empathize with. I'd sure appreciate any online help that you could point me to.

I used the fireworks setting last year, and I did get some awesome pictures. This year, they changed the location, so powerlines were in the way. Oh well, I still have last years pics if I want to cheat. :)

These are great tips, not just for P&S shooters, but for DSLR users too! Plus, you've also included some fantastic images to boot

We DSLR-toting folk probably won't have the option to follow tip #5, but we sure could still use the rest of the tips here.

@jaimie lea ~ I am not sure that the rebels have a fireworks mode as they are really a low-end SLR and not a point and shoot, but I would check your manual. It should tell you all the shooting modes that are available on your camera.
